The project aims at a complex repair and remediation of the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna which is one of the symbols of the town. The Palace of Culture and Sports is designed by Stefan Kolchev and it is built during 1968. The Palace has six multipurpose halls, recreation center, fitness center, pressroom, shopping mall. The biggest hall is „Kongresna“. Its dimensions are 50×25 meters and its height is 15 meters. The project will provide replacement of every seat of the tribunes, expansion of the playing field as per the European and World regulations, building of a new tribune sector expanding the seats in the hall from 3000 to 6000 thus meeting all the requirements for hosting international contests. In addition the heating system will be replaced with a new more energy-efficient system. The projected investment is between 8 and 10 million leva, 4 of which will be provided by the Fund.
JESSICA funding was not agreed upon. The project is implemented with support from the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria.
